Felony

There are three main levels of felonies in the State of Florida other than Capital Felonies (death penalty) and Life Felonies (punishable by life in prison). If you are arrested for a felony, you should be aware that a conviction can be punished by prison or probation as follows:

  • 1st Degree – Punishable by up to 30 years in Florida Department of Corrections
  • 2nd Degree – Punishable by up to 15 years
  • 3rd Degree – Punishable by up to 5 years

You may think “this will never happen to me”. Most people think of violent crimes when they hear about felonies. But it can and does happen to all kinds of people, from all different professional backgrounds. People make mistakes.

We’ve handled hundreds of felony cases, as prosecutors and defense attorneys. Most of the time, the people we represent are not “bad people”. They made a bad decision. Or worse, they have been wrongfully accused.

Pawuk & Pawuk, handles all felony charges. We are often able to get charges dropped or reduced, long before you go to court. If you are arrested, you need someone to tell your side of the story. You need someone who knows what your legal rights are. You need someone who can tell when the police have made legal mistakes.

If this is your first offense, you may be eligible for a pretrial intervention program. If you complete the program, the charges will be dismissed. You then are eligible to have your record sealed.

If you are not a US citizen, be aware that there are serious immigration consequences of any criminal convictions. You should hire a lawyer who understands both immigration and criminal law like Daniel Pawuk.
